South Korean carmaker Kia Motors Corp. said Tuesday that it has started selling "the new Pride," a facelift version of its previous subcompact model, expecting to appeal to consumers with its refined designs and improved safety features.

The new Pride shows off a newly designed front bumper and radiator grille, while using chrome material garnish to make it look more sharp and luxurious, the carmaker said.

The company said that it has tried to enhance the overall dynamic and refined image of the car and apply "best-in-class" safety features.

The new Pride also reduced noise that a driver can hear in driving compared with its previous third-generation Pride model launched in 2011, it added.

It has a price tag ranging from 11.75 million won (US$10,681) to 17.48 million won depending on its engines and other options.

Consumers can choose either gasoline or diesel engine models along with four-door and five-door types. (Yonhap)
