“Old Boy” director Park Chan-wook’s second Hollywood film is set to be a sci-fi thriller titled “Second Born,” American entertainment magazine Variety reported on Thursday.

Based on a script by David Jagernauth, “Second Born” takes place in a futuristic world where people can store human consciousness in neural microchip implants, which has led to a body-swapping black market.

David Lancaster’s newly launched Rumble Films, which recently produced “Whiplash” and “Nightcrawler,” will helm the project. It will be produced by Lancaster and Stephanie Wilcox of Rumble and Jeong Won-jo, Park’s coproducer on “Stoker” in 2013. Details about the cast and the production date are yet to be determined.

While Park’s first Hollywood debut, “Stoker,” a British-American thriller starring Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode and Mia Wasikowska, received array of positive reviews from critics, the film was not a major box office hit, earning less than $2 million in the U.S. and $12 million worldwide, including Korea.

Park is currently working on his upcoming Korean film “Agassi (Lady),” a screen adaptation of the crime novel “Fingersmith” by British author Sarah Waters, after a five-year hiatus in the local market following “Thirst” (2009). Actor Ha Jung-woo has been selected as the male lead, while the female lead has yet to be cast.
