The Korea Times has promoted its vice president Lee Chang-sup to president and publisher, the daily English newspaper announced this week.

Lee, 55, joined the Korea Times in 1984. As a journalist, he covered a wide range of issues in politics and business. He previously served as Cheong Wa Dae correspondent and editor of the politics and business desks.

Before joining the Korea Times editorial staff in 2010, he worked as managing editor for five years. He was promoted to executive managing editor in 2012 and vice president and editor-in-chief in 2014.

The outgoing president Park Moo-jong, who had been in the top position since 2004, has been appointed as an adviser.
