The Korean government said Wednesday that it will publish and distribute a leaflet in English on sexual-harassment prevention, available online from Thursday, amid growing concerns about female migrant workers having trouble due to the language barrier.

The Ministry of Employment and Labor said the booklet aims to support female migrant workers who are likely to suffer from sexual harassment at work, mostly due to the language barrier and working in isolated locations in poor conditions.

The 15-page leaflet, titled “Prevention of Sexual Harassment, The First Step Toward a Happy Working Environment,” offers a definition of sexual harassment and explains other key concepts such as prevention measures and disciplinary actions.

The ministry said about 20,000 copies will be distributed to workplaces with many female migrant workers and state-run job centers, in about a week.

In 2013, the Labor Ministry published a similar leaflet in five different languages: Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese, Indonesian and Uzbek. The new version is the first leaflet in English that aims to tackle sexual harassment in Korean workplaces.

In a report issued last month, National Human Rights Commission Korea said that about 75 percent of female migrant workers have suffered from abusive language or been assaulted by their employers, and 30 percent said they were sexually harassed.
