The Camarata Music Company will host its annual “Fall into Music” fund-raiser with McKinney Consulting next week.

The evening will include performances by the Camarata Chamber Singers and Jazz Trio, a standing buffet and complimentary wine.

There will also be a live auction with United Airlines round-trip business-class tickets to the U.S. or Canada among the items on offer, and a host of raffle prizes.

Camarata runs four big concerts a year, with the biggest being a performance of Handel’s “Messiah” each Christmas. It is a nonprofit organization that provides performance opportunities in English for classical musicians in Korea. 

It has several performance groups including its Chamber Singers, an auditioned choir that performs regularly throughout the year.

It has performed for former President Lee Myung-bak and foreign ambassadors, and is regularly featured at some of Korea’s most prestigious art halls.

Proceeds from “Fall into Music” will support CMC’s concert series and outreach program, in which the Camarata Chamber Singers give benefit concerts and perform at orphanages, centers for those with low incomes, hospitals and nursing homes.

“We go to orphanages not only to provide free concerts for the kids, but we also buy toys and provide things for games,” said artistic director Ryan Goessl, the founder and choir conductor of CMC.

Members from the choir also volunteer regularly at these centers, providing entertainment and companionship.

The event starts at 7 p.m. on Oct. 10 at the Seoul Grand Hyatt Hotel in Seoul. Tickets are 80,000 won in advance or 95,000 won on the day.
