An official poster of the film “The Golden Era,” starring Chinese actors Tang Wei and Feng Shaogeng, was released on Thursday.

The Chinese film, directed by Ann Hui, is a historical romance that depicts the turbulent lives of two Chinese writers in the fast-developing China of the 1930s.

In the poster, Tang is wearing a Western-style blouse; has short, wavy hair; and is holding a lit cigarette in her hand -- a rare look for a Chinese woman in those days. The baby-faced actress appears to be wearing little makeup, adding to the impression that the young writer is full of passion and naivety.
 
The Golden Era will have its Korean premier on Oct. 16. This is Tang’s first film to be screened in Korean theaters since she married Korean filmmaker Kim Tae-yong in August.

The Chinese film was screened at the finale of the 71st Venice International Film Festival in Venice, Italy, in August.
