South Korean rapper Psy and boy band BigBang will perform the finales of the opening and closing ceremonies, respectively, at the Asian Games later this month, their management agency said Sunday.

The 2014 Asian Games will kick off on Sept. 19 for a 16-day run in Incheon, a metropolitan city west of Seoul.

Psy, whose music video "Gangnam Style" catapulted him to global stardom in 2012, will stage the last act of the opening ceremony on Sept. 19, while BigBang will perform the last act of the closing ceremony on Oct. 4, according to YG Entertainment.

Incheon is the third South Korean host of the Asian Games, the continent's largest sports event, after Seoul in 1986 and Busan in 2002.

South Korea has finished second, behind China, in the medal tables at each of the past four Asiads. Its stated objective is to win at least 90 gold medals to once again finish second behind China and fend off Japan. (Yonhap)
