Heineken Korea, the organizers that brought the Amsterdam-born annual house music festival Sensation to Korea for the first time in 2012, is gearing up to present its latest EDM production ― Stardium.

Much implied by its name, the upcoming one-day electronic music festival next month will feature a unique star-shaped stadium that allows for five separate DJ sets to be performed simultaneously without music clashing in between stages. This presents a festival where “everyone’s attention is not restricted to one central stage,” said VU Entertainment director Kim Ki-bum during a press conference held last week at the Club The A in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

“The special concept that we have selected for the upcoming ‘Heineken Presents Stadium’ music event is one night, five stages, five different experiences,” he explained. 

With the desire to give the public more freedom to have various concert-going experiences under one roof, the concert organizers have designed an event that allows music lovers to move about freely to different stages during the night. Each stage features a different subgenre of electronic music: the House Stage, Dubstep Stage, Electrohouse Stage, Trance Stage and the Drum n Bass Stage.

“We are hoping to offer people a chance to experience something that they have not yet ever been given a chance to experience before,” said VU Entertainment president Han Ik-soo.

The inaugural event is slated to feature headlining international acts Mark Knight, Danny Byrd, Alvaro, Seven Lions and Super8 & Tab.

Following in the footsteps of internationally popular Sensation festival, which in the past has been deemed a spectacle that needs not only be heard, but also seen, the night will also incorporate an array of visual performances, including dancing, acrobatics and various special effects.

“Unlike other EDM festivals that have been held here such as UMF or Global Gathering, Stardium is not an international event that is being brought to Korea,” Kim added. “Stardium is a concert that is being founded and established in Korea, and hopefully we will be able to spread it across the globe in the future.”

The world’s first ever Stardium event will be held on Sept. 27 at the Jamsil Olympic Stadium in Seoul, and unlike the previously held Sensation festival with its strict all-white dress code, the upcoming Stardium will have no dress restrictions.

Tickets to the 19 and older event can be purchased online at Yes 24. Early bird ticket prices are listed at 66,000 won while on-site tickets are listed at 88,000 won.
