처음 보는 사람과 결혼을 하는 새로운 리얼리티쇼가 방영되어 해외에서 화제를 모으고 있다. 제단에서 처음 만나는 두 사람을 곧바로 결혼시키는 “극단적인 사회실험”프로그램이라고 데일리 메일이 보도했다.

“첫눈에 결혼 (Married at first sight)”은 처음으로 만나는 두 남녀가 곧바로 결혼을 해야 하는 “신개념” 리얼리티쇼다. 여섯명의 싱글 남녀들이 자발적으로 참여한다.

처음에 만나면 하는 일은 “곧바로 결혼하기”다. 자기소개 등을 하지 않고 바로 부부가 되는 것이다.

하지만 랜덤으로 부부의 연을 맺는 것이 아니다. 성과학자, 강신론자, 심리학자와 사회학자들을 포함한 네명의 전문가들이 서로에게 제일 맞을 것 같은 사람들을 추려낸 것이다. 이런 실험을 통해 사회과학이 성공적인 결혼 생활에 영향을 미치는지 알아내는 것이 이 프로그램의 주목적이다.

몇 주의 결혼생활 후 서로가 마음에 들면 결혼 생활을 계속 하게 되는 것이고 그렇지 아니면 이혼을 하게 되는 것이다. 여기서 결혼도 “진짜 결혼”이고 이혼도 “진짜 이혼이다.” TV를 위해 결혼을 하는 “척”하는 프로그램이 아니라 더욱더 이슈가 되고 있다.

A new “extreme” reality show is starting up in the U.S. “Married at First Site” introduces couples to each other and then walks them down the aisle immediately, according to the Daily Mail.

An extreme social experiment show, the show cast six singles who meet each other for the first time at the altar. The cast members participated voluntarily and are married right away without much introduction to each other.

But the couples aren’t matched randomly, but through a crew of experts, including a “sexologist, spiritualist, psychologist and sociologist.” The program’s main goal is to find out if “social science can play a role in marital success.”
