Seoul Metropolitan Government is offering special discount coupons from this week for Korean nationals who plan on visiting four Asian cities ― Tokyo, Delhi, Jakarta and Taipei.

The coupon, dubbed the “One Asia Pass,” offers discount rates ranging from 5 to 50 percent to the cities’ various tourist attractions and accommodations, such as restaurants, tour buses, airfares and museums.

The coupon, which can be downloaded for free at the website of Seoul Metropolitan government, can be used in all of the four cities.

Those who plan to visit Seoul from the four cities can also download the same coupon from their cities’ Websites and benefit from discount fares from some 50 tourist sites, accommodations and cultural performances in Seoul.

Some 550 companies and institutions are participating from the five cities, including Seoul, for the joint discount program.

Participating sites include Tokyo’s Ooedo-Onsen-Monogatari, a natural hot spring theme park in the city’s Odaiba area, where those with the coupon can get a 15 percent discount.

One can also get a 50 percent discount at Jarkarta’s Sea World Indonesia with the coupon.

In Seoul, foreign tourists with the One Asia pass can get a 15 percent discount at Lotte World, a major amusement park in the city, and a 10 percent discount on tickets for Seoul’s City Tour Bus program.

Kim Mi-seon from the Seoul government said all residents in Korea were eligible to get the coupon, even if they are not Seoul residents.

“But they can only use the coupon in the four cities in Asia, and are not allowed to use them in Seoul,” she said.

The city is also planning to collaborate with more cities, including Beijing, Manila, Bangkok, Los Angeles and Istanbul, in an effort to bring more foreign tourists to Seoul while benefiting other cities as well.

Seoul and Japan’s Hokkaido also have been offering similar discount coupons city since last July. The coupon is also available on the website of the Seoul city government.
