알제리 패한 한국 16강 진출 경우의 수, '벨기에 이겨도....'

한국이 알제리에 2-4 패하면서 H조 16강 진출 경우의 수에 대한 관심이 높지만, 사실상 불가능하다. 벨기에 스포츠전문 매체 스포르트는 23일(한국시각) 한국-알제리전이 2-4로 끝난 뒤 두 팀의 전술 차가 승패를 갈랐다고 분석했다.

이 매체는 "알제리의 바히드 할리호지치 감독은 벨기에와 1차전과는 다른 라인업을 들고 나왔다. 무려 5명의 새로운 얼굴을 투입했다. 하지만 홍명보 감독은 전혀 변화를 주지 않았다"고 지적했다.

이어 알제리 패한 한국 H조 16강 진출 경우의 수를 두고 "알제리는 이번 승리로 조 2위가 됐다. 러시아와의 3차전에서 승리하면 벨기에와 한국의 경기 결과에 상관없이 알제리의 16강 진출은 확정된다. 반면에 한국은 아직 16강 탈락이 확정된 것은 아니지만 이미 탈락이라고 본다"며 평가했다.

일단 알제리 패한 한국 H조 16강 진출 경우의 수를 보면 한국이 벨기에를 상대로 두 골 차 이상 승리를 거두고, 러시아가 알제리를 1골 차로 이기는 경우 한국과 러시아는 1승1무1패에 골득실까지 0으로 동점이 된다. 알제리와 러시아가 비길 경우, 한국은 벨기에에게 3점 차 승리를 거두어야 알제리와 동률 2위를 이룬다.

한편 벨기에는 23일(이하 한국시간) 브라질 리우 데 자네이루의 마라카낭 경기장에서 열린 2014 브라질월드컵 조별리그 H조 2차전서 러시아에 1-0으로 승리하며 H조서 가장 먼저 16강 진출을 확정 지었다.

Belgium defeats Russia 1-0 to next round

Hours before South Korea would face Algeria in their second group match, Belgium broke a lackluster stalemate against Russia to score in the 88th minute, winning 1-0 on Sunday in Rio de Janeiro to see it through to the Round of 16.

Star midfielder Eden Hazard slipped forward Divock Origi a quick assist right in front of the goal to score the lone goal of the match.

It was the two teams’ fifth World Cup faceoff, the most recent being Belgium’s 3-2 win in 2002. With six points, Belgium sits at the top of Group H standings, followed by Algeria with three and South Korea and Russia with one apiece.

Belgium’s Dries Martens, who scored the match-winning second goal against Algeria last week, led the action from the beginning, taking the first attempt in the fourth minute as Belgium hardly gave Russia a chance with the ball throughout the first half.

Russia’s Denis Glushakov made a clean cross from the left to Aleksandr Kokorin near the end of the first half, but the forward headed the ball wide.

Mertens then restarted action three minutes into the second half with a clean cross into the box for Romelu Lukaku, who was slow to react and was later substituted in the 57th minute.

Russia warmed up in the second half as possession evened out. A few minutes later, Russia midfielder Denis Glushakov tried to slice a volley over Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, but his shot went high.

Fifteen minutes in, Russia began to push its opponents into their own half, though few scoring opportunities came of it.

With just minutes before final whistle, Belgium’s Kevin Mirallas came close to scoring in the 84th minute with a free kick, which he fired past the wall toward the goal’s bottom left corner. Russian goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev was slow to react, and the ball crashed against the post.

Finally, Hazard slipped Origi a ball from the left in front of goal to win the game.

On June 26, Russia will face Algeria while Belgium faces South Korea for the final matches of Group H.
