벨기에 '2진 투입, 골키퍼도 바꿀 듯' 한국 대망신

4-2로 알제리전에서 패해 홍명보호의 월드컵 16강 탈락의 가능성이 높아진 가운데 조 별 리그에서 가장 먼저 안착한 벨기에가 한국과의 3차전 경기에서 대거 2진들을 투입할 것으로 보인다.

러시아와의 경기에서 1-0으로 신승을 거둔 직 후 벨기에 마르크 빌모츠 감독은 이미 "한국전에는 그동안 뛰지 못한 일부 선수들 에게 기회를 주겠다"고 말했다.

연합뉴스에 따르면 벨기에 취재진은 한국, 벨기에 전 관련 먼저 두 경기에서 연달아 결승골을 어시스트한 에덴 아자르(첼시)가 쉬는 대신 19세 신예 아드난 야누자이(맨체스터 유나이티드)가 나올 가능성이 크고 경고를 한 차례 받은 미드필더 악셀 위첼(제니트)도 벤치를 지킬 것으로 예상했다.

위첼 대신에는 스테번 드푸르(포르투)가 선발 출전할 전망이라고 밝혔다.1,2차전에 부진한 모습을 보인 로멜루 루카쿠(에버턴)는 골 감각을 되찾는 시간을 배려받을 가능성이 크지만 2차전 결승골의 주인공 디보크 오리기(릴)가 선발로 나올 수도 있다.

일부 벨기에 취재진은 골키퍼 교체까지 거론했다. 티보 쿠르투아(아틀레티코 마드리드)를 쉬게 하고 '2번 골키퍼'인 시몽 미뇰레(리버풀)가 출전 기회를 얻을 수 있다는 것이다.

2진 기용은 한국에게는 자존심 상하는 일이지만 한국 팬들로서는 지푸라기라도 잡고 싶은 심정으로 벨기에가 주 전 선수들을 대거 제외하고 경기에 나서주기를 기대하고 있다.

한국은 벨기에를 최소한 두 골 이상 차이로 물리친 뒤 알제리(1승1패)-러시아 경기에서 러시아가 승리하기를 기대해야 한다. 만일 벨기에가 2진을 투입했는데도 한국이 패한다면 홍명보호는 한국 팬들로 부터 엄청난 비난에 직면 할 것으로 보인다

Belgium defeats Russia 1-0 to next round

Hours before South Korea would face Algeria in their second group match, Belgium broke a lackluster stalemate against Russia to score in the 88th minute, winning 1-0 on Sunday in Rio de Janeiro to see it through to the Round of 16.

Star midfielder Eden Hazard slipped forward Divock Origi a quick assist right in front of the goal to score the lone goal of the match.

It was the two teams’ fifth World Cup faceoff, the most recent being Belgium’s 3-2 win in 2002. With six points, Belgium sits at the top of Group H standings, followed by Algeria with three and South Korea and Russia with one apiece.

Belgium’s Dries Martens, who scored the match-winning second goal against Algeria last week, led the action from the beginning, taking the first attempt in the fourth minute as Belgium hardly gave Russia a chance with the ball throughout the first half.

Russia’s Denis Glushakov made a clean cross from the left to Aleksandr Kokorin near the end of the first half, but the forward headed the ball wide.

Mertens then restarted action three minutes into the second half with a clean cross into the box for Romelu Lukaku, who was slow to react and was later substituted in the 57th minute.

Russia warmed up in the second half as possession evened out. A few minutes later, Russia midfielder Denis Glushakov tried to slice a volley over Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, but his shot went high.

Fifteen minutes in, Russia began to push its opponents into their own half, though few scoring opportunities came of it.

With just minutes before final whistle, Belgium’s Kevin Mirallas came close to scoring in the 84th minute with a free kick, which he fired past the wall toward the goal’s bottom left corner. Russian goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev was slow to react, and the ball crashed against the post.

Finally, Hazard slipped Origi a ball from the left in front of goal to win the game.

On June 26, Russia will face Algeria while Belgium faces South Korea for the final matches of Group H.
