Signature South Korean alt-rock band Nell is scheduled to hold a series of concerts next month, showcasing its new studio album “Newton’s Apple.”
Nell will stage five live performances titled “Nell’s Season 2014 ― Newton’s Apple” at the Blue Square Samsung Card Hall in Seoul from April 3-6.
The four-member band, composed of vocalist and leader Kim Jong-wan, guitarist Lee Jae-kyung, bassist Lee Jung-hoon and drummer Chung Jae-won, entered the local music scene in 2001 with the indie album “Reflection Of,” after being picked up by Korean legendary singer Seo Tai-ji while performing at small shows in Hongdae.

Known for its dreamlike, emotional and often gloomy music style, Nell is considered one of the most renowned alternative rock bands in Korea. Over the years, the band has steadily released several hit singles including “Time Walking on Memory,” “Stay,” “White Light,” “Becoming Distant,” “Thank You” and “Good Night.”
Nell was also included among the Korean music acts selected to perform at this year’s South By Southwest music showcase, North America’s largest music festival held in Austin, Texas, with about 1,000 musicians from around the world.
Nell performed alongside popular bands including YB, Jang Kiha and the Faces, No Brain, Crying Nut, Glenn Check and Galaxy Express, as well as high-profile K-pop acts HyunA and Jay Park during the festival’s “K-pop Night Out” event.
Nell recently released its sixth studio album “Newton’s Apple” in February, with the title track “Four Times Around the Sun” rising to the top of local music charts alongside new songs by popular K-pop acts including Girls’ Generation.
Nell’s upcoming concert will be focused on delivering a quality live performance to be marked by a dreamy sound, which it hopes will draw listeners like gravity, according to a press release by the concert’s organizer Hakunamatata Company this month.
“We have prepared our comeback concert in hopes of meeting our fans in a closer setting and sharing more music than is allowed in our appearances in TV music programs,” Nell said in the statement.
Nell will perform on April 3 at 8 p.m., April 4 at 8 p.m., April 5 at 7 p.m. and April 6 at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. For tickets, visit ticket.interpark.com.
