Uruguayan President Mujica made headlines Tuesday for having a sexy model as his secretary, after a Brazilian paper reported him as the world’s poorest president.

Fabiana Leis, 33, has been reportedly working for the presidential office since 2002, at the same time working as a model, actress and dancer.

“Unfortunately in Uruguay, it is difficult to make a living solely from art,” Leis said in an interview with Clarin.

Leis had also garnered attention for appearing nude in the 2011 calendar of a Uruguayan magazine called Fevvi. The local public does not question her activities unlike Korea, where civil servants would be accused of being undignified for the same act. The model distributed 200 calendars to fellow colleagues working for the presidential office. 

The president, her boss, is famous for his appearance on a motorcycle as a member of the parliament after 14 years in prison for antigovernment acts under former military dictatorship.

The 78-year-old president reportedly leads a simple life with merely 10 percent of his salary worth 1.3 million won ($1,200), donating the rest. President Mujica and his wife own very little relative to other presidents, including property worth 2 million won, two cars worth 5.9 million won, and three tractors and farm tools worth 20.3 million won.
