Asiana Airlines Inc. said Thursday that it won two high-profile awards in China in recognition of its efforts to meet the needs of its passengers.

The company said it received the “best international airliner” citation at the Special Trip World Travel Awards 2013 hosted by the Oriental Morning Post in Shanghai.

The award marks the third year in a row that Asiana won top honors at the annual event organized by the daily.

The company said the latest recognition comes after it won the “best service” award from the Shanghai Morning Post on Tuesday.

Asiana operates 31 different routes to 22 Chinese cities, the most extensive service of any airliner operating between South Korea and China.

The latest awards come despite the fatal crash of an Asiana B777-200ER jet at San Francisco International Airport in July. All three fatalities were Chinese citizens, who made up nearly half of the 307 people on the ill-fated flight. (Yonhap News)
