Members of the duo, Kang Gary and Gil, gained substantial fandom around Asia due to their appearance in SBS program “Running Man” and MBC program “Infinite Challenge.”
“We are honored that many people are recognizing Leessang’s music, and we want to show the audience our own style,” the artists said in a statement.
Unlike many other performances by young K-pop idol stars, the duo will focus on showcasing their unique sound and showing the crowd Korean hip-hop. Leessang will be the first non-k-pop idol group to tour the most number of Asian countries in the shortest span of time, according to CJ E&M, the company hosting the showcase.
“Leessang was able to pull hip-hop into the mainstream, and as the members participated in various comedy programs they were able to reach out to foreign fans with Korean hip-hop,” a representative of CJ E&M said, “The duo will be a breath of fresh air in the foreign K-pop market which is dominated by idol performances.”
