The head of SK Energy, an affiliate of SK Group, called for more cooperation with Britain in the energy sector.

“Korea and the United Kingdom should seek common points of interest within the ever-diversifying energy sector and establish a foothold for mutual growth,” company president Park Bong-kyoon said.

Park was speaking at the Korea-U.K Global CEO Forum in London on Wednesday. He visited London as a member of the business delegation for President Park Geun-hye’s state visit to Britain.

The forum was held with the aim of boosting economic cooperation between the two countries in energy, expansion into developing countries, the creative economy and solutions to societal aging.

The key issues of debate during the forum included joint investment in offshore wind power, Britain’s shale gas development, and the two countries’ policies on energy storage systems.

Samir Brikho, president of U.K. energy company AMEC, suggested that the two countries hold such CEO forums on a regular basis in the future, so that the energy agendas can lead to tangible business results, officials said.

Park has also played a leading role in promoting Korea’s energy policies and market potential to the global community, company officials said.
