South Korean parents with elementary school children read fewer books than their kids, a survey showed Tuesday.
According to the survey conducted by education firm Hanuribook, 36.6 percent of the respondents answered that their children read six to 10 books a month.
In contrast, 26.6 percent of those parents said they read one book or less a month.
Parents who read more than six books a month accounted for 12.3 percent, marking a wide gap with their children in the amount of reading.
“Reading is getting more and more important, but the gap between parents and their children (in reading) remains the same,” said an official from Hanuribook.
