Swedish prince promotes road safety on royal visit

Prince Carl Philip of Sweden arrived in South Korea on Saturday to promote road safety and inaugurate a seminar on the issue on Monday in Seoul, according to the Swedish Embassy.

During his week-long visit here, the Swedish royal is also visiting a number of Swedish companies with activities in Korea, including the automotive safety company Autoliv, Volvo Trucks, IKEA and H&M.

He will visit Hyundai Motor R&D Center in Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province, to learn more about recent developments in improving the safety of Korean cars.

Also on his itinerary are Hongik University, a leading art school in South Korea, and the offices of the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission in Panmunjeom.

He attended the 2013 Formula 1 Korean Grand Prix at the Korea International Circuit on Sunday in Yeongnam, South Jeolla Province.

Carl Philip is third in the Swedish royal line of succession, after his older sister, Crown Princess Victoria, and his niece and goddaughter Princess Estelle. He returns to Copenhagen on Oct. 10.
