South Korean comedian Bae Dong-seong recently divorced his wife of 22 years Ahn Hyeon-ju, a local magazine reported Monday.
According to monthly magazine “Ju-bu Saeng-hwal (Life of Housewives),” the couple officially ended their marriage in March by mutual agreement.
“I no longer want to live as Bae Dong-seong’s wife. We’ve been a ‘window display couple’ for some time,” Ahn told the magazine. She said they had been separated since last year.
The couple had lived apart for 10 years due to Ahn’s desire to educate their children in the U.S. Ahn and their three children lived in the U.S. from 2001 to 2011, and moved back to Korea in 2011.
In 2011, Ahn and Bae appeared in an SBS TV program “Jagiya” and said they had grown indifferent toward each other.
“The reason we grew apart is because my wife and children are living in America,” Bae said. He also claimed to have spent around 1 billion won ($894,000) on their children’s education.
