일본 가수 타쿠 다카하시가 걸그룹 소녀시대의 새로운 앨범‘베스트 셀렉션 논스톱 믹스’ (Best Selection Nonstop Mix)에 참여, 3월 20일에 대중들에게 발표했따.

앨범은 인트로를 포함해 지금까지 발매된 소녀시대의 대표곡 ‘Gee,’ ‘The Boys,” ‘런데빌런,’ ‘미스터택시,” “Oh”를 새롭게 각색해 기존의 곡과는 또 다른 매력을 선보였다.

타쿠 다카하시는 한국에서도 잘 알려진 엠플로 (m-flo)의 멤버로, 한국인 랩퍼 VERBAL과 함께 활동하고 있다. 그들은 1999년 싱글 앨범 ‘더 트립트 이피’ (the tripod e.p)로 데뷔한 이후, 10년이 넘는 기간 동안 끝없는 히트곡들을 발표해 큰 인기를 얻었다.

엠플로는 비스티 보이즈, 카니예 웨스트등 해외 스타들과의 협업은 물론, 국내에서는 지누션, 휘성, 동방신기, 보아, 투애니원까지 수많은 가수들과 교류를 나누어 한국에서도 많은 팬들을 거느리고 있다.

소녀시대는 2011년 6월 일본에서 첫 앨범 ‘걸스 제너레이션’을 발매, 오리콘 차트 1위를 시작으로 13주에 걸쳐 차트 10위에 머무르는 등 오랫동안 사랑을 받았다. 앨범은 그룹의 싱글 히트곡 ‘지’ (Gee), ‘지니’ (Genie), ‘미스터 택시 (Mr Taxi), ‘런 데빌 런’(Devil Run)의 일본어 버전이 수록 되어있다. 소녀시대는 데뷔와 동시에 첫주 판매량 2만장을 넘기고, 2011년을 통틀어 7만장의 판매고를 기록해 소녀시대 파워를 확고히 했다. 2012년 12월 소녀시대는 두번째 일본 정규앨범 ‘걸스 앤 피스’를 발표해 오리콘 2위를 기록한 바 있다. 1위는 일본 국민 그룹 미스터 칠드런이 차지했다.

현재 소녀시대는 4월 21 오사카까지 이어지는 일본투어 ‘GIRLS GENERATION – Girls&Peace-Japan 2nd Tour’에 집중하고 있다. 투어는 고베, 오사카, 히로시마, 후쿠오카, 나고야, 사이타마, 니가타 등 총 7개 도시에서 총 20회에 걸쳐 진행된다. 소녀시대는 일본 투어 공연 이후 미국 앨범 발매도 준비할 예정이다. (코리아헤럴드 쥴리 잭슨 기자, 배수민 인턴기자 번역)

M-Flo DJ takes a new spin on SNSD hits

DJ Taku Takahasi of the popular Japanese electronica hip-hop duo M-Flo has released a special remix album of some of the most popular Japanese hit singles by Girls’ Generation.

“Girls’ Generation Best Selection Non Stop Mix,” a 21-track album, was released Wednesday. The album features the DJ’s electronic remix versions of 20 of the ladies’ hit songs including “Gee,” “The Boys,” “Run Devil Run,” “Genie,” “Mr. Taxi” and “Oh!”

Takahasi is best known as a member of M-Flo and he and fellow Korean member Verbal have made a name for themselves as some of the most highly influential and sought-after hip-hop production team in Japan and across Asia. The DJ’s remix album does not stray far from Girls’ Generation’s original sound; rather the mixes simply add a more club heavy feel to the tracks.

The members of Girls’ Generation released their eponymous debut Japanese album in June 2011 and featured the Japanese singles and remakes including the Japanese versions of the hit Korean tracks “Genie,” “Gee” and “Mr. Taxi/Run Devil Run.“

The debut album went on to top the Oricon Daily Album Chart on the day of its release, selling more than 70,000 copies and more than 200,000 copies in its first week. The album made Girls‘ Generation the first foreign girl group ever to top the chart on an album’s release date.

The following year the group released its second full Japanese album titled “Girls & Peace,” which peaked at the No. Two spot of the Oricon Chart, getting beaten out by the veteran Japanese band Mr. Children. (juliejackson@heraldcorp.com)
