가수 백지영이 일본 가요계에 정식 데뷔한다.

일본 유명 스포츠 신문 산케이 스포츠에 의하면 백지영은 화제작 ‘시크릿 가든’의 주제가인 ‘그 여자’를 일본어로 불러 오는 5월 1일 일본에 정식 데뷔한다고 6일에 전했다.

백지영의 데뷔무대는 ‘시크릿 가든’의 한류 열풍에 힘입어 이루어졌다. 2010년 SBS 주말드라마로 큰 인기를 끌은 시크릿 가든에는 한류 스타 현빈과 하지원이 출연해 시청률을 37.9 퍼센트 끌어올려, OST 곡들 또한 음원 차트에서 큰 사랑을 받았다. 시크릿가든은 작년 4월 일본 NHK 채널을 통해 처음 방송돼, 지금까지 그 인기를 이어가고 있다.

산케이는 그녀가 데뷔한 지 14년 된 ‘발라드의 여왕’으로 칭해, 그녀가 한국 발라드계에서 톱 자리를 지키고 있다고 말했다. 또한 백지영이 지난 1월에 발표한 신곡 ‘싫다’가 한국 유명 차트 여러 개에서 1위를 차지했다고 소개했다.

백지영은 일본 팬들과 직접 만나볼 기회가 생겨서 기쁘다고 전했고, 많이 사랑해 줬으면 좋겠다고 소감을 밝혀, 설레이고 긴장된 마음을 감추지 못했다.

백지영의 일본 데뷔 음반에는 ‘그 여자’ 외에 드라마 ‘아이리스’의 주제가인 ‘잊지 말아요’와 그동안 백지영이 발표했던 다양한 히트곡들이 일본어 버전으로 수록 될 예정이다.

Baek Ji-young to make official debut in Japan

Ballad singer Baek Ji-young will soon make her official singing debut in Japan.

Baek will sing the Japanese version of her famous track “That Woman,” from the original soundtrack of SBS drama series “Secret Garden,” on May 1, according to a Japanese media report.

Released in 2010, “Secret Garden” starred hallyu stars Hyun-bin and Ha Ji-won. Immensely popular in Korea, the last episode of the series recorded a 37.9 percent viewer rating. The series also aired in Japan, on the NHK BS Premium channel, last year.

The report dubbed Baek Ji-young “Korea’s Queen of Ballads,” explaining how she had been in the K-pop scene for 14 years.

The news report also mentioned Baek’s latest track, “Hate,” released on Jan. 3. The ballad about heartbreak was a huge success, winning her the top spot on several music charts, including Naver Music, Sori Bada, Mnet and more.

Baek announced that she was flattered to be given the opportunity to meet her fans in Japan. She also asked Japanese fans to look out for her.

Her new album will also include her major hits including “Don’t Forget,” from the soundtrack of hit television drama series “Iris,” also in Japanese.

With her official debut, the singer will hold a premium live concert at Tokyo Akasaka Blitz.
