A British singer who appeared on the talent show “X Factor” pleaded guilty on Tuesday to car theft, British media reported.

Paige Flaherty, who competed in the popular audition program in 2011, pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle theft and driving with no insurance at Newcastle Crown Court last year. The court will give a ruling on the case in April.

The 19-year-old singer allegedly stole a pink Mini from outside a house in South Tyneside, Northeast England on Aug. 29, 2011, and drove it to Newcastle where she knocked down a pedestrian. Flaherty then gave wrong contact information to the victim, although it is unclear whether she intended to misguide the victim.

Flaherty was arrested weeks later after the victim spotted her performing on TV.

Flaherty’s band “Twisted” made headlines after its band member Chrissie Pitt left the group to compete for an audition program as an individual.

오디션 프로 출신 女가수, 과거 밝혀져

영국에서 한 오디션 프로그램 출신 가수가 과거 자동차를 훔친 경력이 발각되는 사건이 발생했다.

플레허티가 X팩터에 출연할 당시 몸담았던 여성 4인조 그룹 “트위스티디(Twisted)”는 프로그램 도중 심사위원 켈리 롤랜드의 제안으로 멤버 크리시 피트가 팀을 탈퇴하면서 주목을 받았다.

롤랜드는 피트의 솔로무대를 듣고 “팀을 떠나는 것이 좋겠다”고 조언을 했는데, 피트는 이를 받아들였고 나머지 오디션 과정에 솔로가수로 참여했다.

이 과정에서 플레허티와 나머지 멤버들은 피트에게 매우 분노한 것으로 알려졌는데, 이들은 3인조 그룹 “키사비트(KISSABEAT) 결성해 다른 오디션 프로그램에서 우승했다고 한다.

키사비트는 우승 이후 자신들의 곡 “저스트 젤러시(Just Jealousy)를 녹음했으나, 이 곡이 정작 발표될 때는 플레허티의 목소리가 지워진 채로 발표되었다.
