다국적 아시아 여성들로 결성된 그룹, “블러시” 가 최근 미국 팝계의 거장 퀸시 존스의 러브콜을 받고 앨범을 제작하기로 했다.

퀸시 존스는 블러시의 데뷔 앨범 뿐 아니라 다른 엘범을 내는 데 있어서도 책임프로듀서로 일할 것이다. “블러시를 만나자 마자 깜짝 놀랐다. 이들은 다양한 사람을 음악을 통해 모아보겠다는 내 평생의 소원을 이룩해내었다,” 존스가 말했다.

블러시는 한국에서 온 이지해, 필리핀에서 온 안젤리 플로레스, 인도에서온 일라샤 부드라니, 일본에서 온 나츠코 단조, 그리고 중국에서돈 빅토리아 챈으로 이루어져있고, 영어로 노래한다. “이들이 단순 다국적이어서가 아니라 정말 재능있다는 것도 유니크하다,” 존스가 말했다. “그 무엇인가가 있다. 그들을 만나게 되어 너무 반갑고 우리는 앞으로 더욱 특별한 일을 함께 할 수 있을 것이다.”

블러시는 최근 발렌타인데이에 맞추어 “Warrior”라는 싱글을 발매했다. 업템포의 이 곡은 여성들의 힘, 그리고 사랑을 찾기 위한 그들의 고군분투를 담아내고 있다.

블러시는 2010년 홍콩에서 아시아인들의 힘으로 미국시장을 뚫어보자는 취지로 결성되었다. 그리고 이들은 지금까지 다이아나 로스, 블랭 아이드 피스, 파 이스트 무브먼트, 저스틴 비버, 제시 제이 등과 공연했다.

블러시는 또한 빌보드 차트 댄스 음악부분에 2번이나 탑 10을 기록한 유일한 아시아인들이다. Dance on 이 1위를 했고 스눕독이 피처링한 두번째 싱글, Undivided는 3위를 기록했었다.

Blush girls sign with the legendary Quincy Jones

Multicultural Asian girl group Blush announced that it has signed on to work with the Grammy Legend Award winning American musician and producer Quincy Jones on the girls’ debut full-length album.

Jones is not only slated to act as the group’s executive producer on the band’s yet-to-be titled album, but on other future productions as well.

“When I met Blush, I was blown away,” Jones said in news reports. “These five girls reflect my lifelong mission to bring people together through music.”

The diverse members of Blush, who all sing in English, are Lee Ji-hae from Korea, Angeli Flores from the Philippines, Alisha Budhrani from India, Natsuko Danjo from Japan and Victoria Chan from China.

“Not only is it unique to see so many cultures come together, it’s amazing how much talent there is in this one group,” said Jones. “They have ‘it’ -- that extra something. I am thrilled we found each other and that we will be creating something special together.”

The girls recently released their latest digital single, “Warrior” on Valentine’s Day. The up-tempo dance pop song is about women power, rebellion and fighting for one’s love.

Blush was first formed by Hong Kong-based independent production company FarWest Entertainment in 2010 with mission of popularizing an Asian act in the U.S. as well as the rest of the world.

Blush has opened and performed alongside some of the top names in the American music industry including Diana Ross, The Black Eyed Peas, Far East Movement, Justin Bieber and Jessie J.

The group is the only Asian crossover act to have two singles make it in the Top 10 on the U.S. Billboard Dance Chart with “Dance On” hitting the No. 1 spot and the girls’ debut single “Undivided,” featuring Snoop Dogg, peaking at the No. 3 spot.
