스마트폰으로는 단순히 문자, 전화, 게임만 하는 게 아닌 듯하다. 스마트폰만 가지고 영화를 제작하기도 한다.

2006년 영화 ’괴물’로 유명한 봉준호 감독이 올해 열리는 제3회 올레 국제스마트폰영화제 심사위원장을 맡았다. ’괴물’은 아시아필름어워드와 청룡영화제에서 베스트필름상을 받은 바 있다.

올레 국제스마트폰영화제는 국내와 국외에 있는 사람들이 모두 참가 가능하며, 스마트폰만 이용해서 촬영된 짧은 영화를 심사하는 영화제다.

올해 해당 영화제는 4월 17일에서 20일까지 서울광장에서 열린다. 1등에게는 1천 만 원이 상금으로 수여된다. 작품 제출일은 2월 1일에서 28일까지다. (코리아헤럴드)

Director Bong Joon-ho to chair this year’s smartphone film festival


The capabilities of the latest generations of smartphones far surpass simply making calls and texting friends and loved ones. Rather, these phones have opened up the world to a new way to not only see movies, but to produce and direct them as well.

Famed Korean film director and screenwriter Bong Joon-ho has been selected as the chairman of the film screening committee for this year’s upcoming 3rd Olleh International Smartphone Film Festival. Director Bong is most famous for his 2006 movie, “The Host,” which was one of the highest grossing Korean movies of all time and won him the Best Film Awards at the Asian Film Awards and at the Blue Dragon Film Awards.

The Olleh International Smartphone Film Festival is an annual competition where contestants, both local and international, produce short movies solely using their smartphones. The theme of this year’s film festival, “The Quest for Dream Begins,” is based on the simple principle that anyone who owns a smartphone can become a great film director.

This year’s smartphone film festival will run from April 17 to 20 at Seoul Square. The grand prize winner will take home 10 million won in prize money along with a new smartphone. Creative film makers who wish to participate in the event can submit their film entries from Feb. 1 - Feb. 28.
