Lotte Group donated 5 billion won ($4.6 million) to the Community Chest of Korea Wednesday for underprivileged neighbors.
Lee In-won, vice chairman of the group’s policy headquarters, delivered the money to the charity fundraiser in Seoul on behalf of chairman-in-chief Shin Kyuk-ho and employees.
“I hope that our interest in and consideration for less fortunate neighbors would be of help for all members of our society to live a happy life,” Shin said through Lee. “We will continue to share with our neighbors.”
Separately from the year-end donation by all executives and employees of the group, subsidiaries have their own programs for those in need. Lotte Department Store supports charitable projects with the Seoul Welfare Foundation for babies and infants from low-income families. Lotte Confectionary sponsors the Beautiful Store, a nonprofit social enterprise selling donated used items.
