Working women in Seoul increase 38.4% in 11 years

The number of working women in Seoul has increased 38.4 percent in the past 11 years, according to a report.

The Seoul City WomanUP, an organization that works to develop women’s capabilities for working, said the number of working women has increased from 1.34 million in 2010 to 1.85 million in 2010.

The proportion of them who were working in retail and restaurants decreased from 23.6 percent and 16.8 percent of total working women to 17.7 percent and 13.4 percent respectively.

On the other hand a greater proportion of women are working in the health and welfare services professions. The proportion of working women in science and technical professions has almost doubled since 2000, while the proportion working in business increased almost fourfold.
