The Art Council Korea on Friday will found a body to encourage the spirit of sharing in the art scene, the organization said Monday.

The campaign will be an expansion of ArKo’s “Art tree planting campaign” with the Federation of Artistic and Cultural Organizations of Korea, the Federation of Korean Folk Arts Organizations of Korea and the Korean Business Council for the Arts added to the member list.

A forum will be established to discuss ways to promote the sharing of art and culture in Korea alongside a declaration of sharing by 1,000 major figures in the art scene. The organization is also planning to encourage artists to participate in cultivating a cultural movement in culturally underprivileged areas and nurture future artists.

On Wednesday ArKo held an open discussion about the future of culture and arts. Former Culture Minister Lee O-young gave a keynote speech, “Why now the value of art?”

“The movement will promote the value of culture and sharing in society,” said Kwon Young-bin, head of ArKo.
