More than 1,000 business schools worldwide, including Harvard Business School and Stanford University, now accept results from the Graduate Record Examination for admission to their MBA programs, according to the test organizer.

In the past, prospective MBA students were limited to submitting scores from the Graduate Management Admission Test, but now many of the world’s most renowned business schools accept GRE scores, according to the Educational Testing Service.

Recent years have seen the GRE become a more attractive option to potential graduate students thanks to ETS’ introduction of the GRE-revised General Test in August 2011, according to David Payne, vice president and chief operating officer for ETS’ higher education division.

The updated assessment is designed to be more test-taker-friendly, and the new ScoreSelect option allows test takers to decide which GRE scores, from their reportable history, to send to their designated schools, according to the official.

“We add more business schools to the list of GRE score users almost every day,” he said.
