A Pennsylvania man diagnosed with Stage IV prostate cancer said he has made arrangements for his ashes to be placed in a replica of a special bowling ball.

Tony Guarino, 48, of Wilkins, who was diagnosed only a week after his wedding four years ago, said he and his wife, Stacey, visited a funeral home last fall to make arrangements for his ailing mother and they decided to make plans for their own cremations, the online Pittsburgh Press reported Monday.

Guarino said he thought it would be “neat” to have his ashes stored in a bowling ball -- specifically a replica of the Storm X Factor Ace bowling ball he used to roll a perfect game in 2001.

Stacey Guarino called Mike Sargent, the technical customer service manager at Storm Bowling Products, in Brigham City, Utah, and asked about creating a bowling ball urn.

“Right away, it was something that I knew I wasn‘t going to say no to,” Sargent said.

The Guarinos said they had the bowling ball urn in their possession eight months later.

Tony Guarino’s doctor said he likely has years of life left, but the cancer has spread to his spine and he was forced to quit bowling last month due to being exhausted from chemotherapy.

“He‘ll always be able to bowl, even though he can’t physically do it anymore,” Stacey Guarino said. (UPI)

펜실베니아 현지 언론에 따르면 토니 구아리노(48) 씨는 지난 가을, 질병에 시달리고 있는 자신의 어머니를 위해 장례식장을 방문한 김에 자신과 부인의 장례 절차에 대한 계획도 같이 세웠다고 한다.

구리아노 씨는 자신의 시신을 화장한 다음 유골을 스톰 사의 X팩터 에이스 볼링공처럼 생긴 함에 담으면 “근사할(neat)”것이라고 생각했다고 한다.

이 공은 평상시 볼링을 즐겼던 그가 2001년에 퍼펙트 게임 (모든 프레임에서 스트라이크를 달성해 볼링에서 얻을 수 있는 최고 점수인 300점을 얻는 것)을 달성했을 때 사용한 것이라고 한다.

공 모양 유골함 제작을 의뢰 받은 스톰사는 이를 “거절할 수 없는 의뢰”라며 흔쾌히 승낙했다고 한다. 구리아노 부부는 제작을 맡긴지 8개월 후 볼링공과 꼭 닮은 유골함을 받아볼 수 있었다.

구리아노 씨의 주치의는 구리아노 씨의 수명이 몇 년 남았지만 암이 척추로 전이되었으며 항암화학요법에 체력이 떨어진 그가 지난달에 볼링을 그만둬야 했다고 설명했다.

“이제 그는 육체적으로 불가능하더라도 항상 볼링을 즐길 수 있을 거에요”라고 구리아노 씨의 부인 스테이시 씨는 말했다.
