North Korea has started to distribute its newly-developed tablet PC “Morning,” which was manufactured with North Korea’s own technology, according to a Chinese news report.

Even in North Korea, where information is severely controlled, Tablet PCs seem to be popular among people.

The tablet is seven inches long, weighs 300g and is useable for five hours when fully charged. However, its specific functions such as internet connection or a camera are as yet unknown.

The Chinese IT industry analyzed the PC and said that its operating system is based on Linux. They predicted that “Morning” will be used for educational purposes, as North Korea is one of the most closed societies in the world.

North Korea already had a Tablet PC named “Samjiyon,” which is a lake in Hamgyong Province. This tablet PC has an encyclopedia, map and games, but no internet connection. The relation between “Morning” and “Samjiyon” is not clarified.

북한은 앞서 "삼지연"이라는 태블릿 피씨를 내놓았는데, 백과사전, 지도, 게임 서비스 등의 기능은 있었으나 인터넷 연결은 되지 않았다. "아침"과 "삼지연" 사이의 관계는 아직 밝혀지지 않았다.
