Orix Buffaloes batter Lee Dae-ho will be slugging in the All-Star Series of the Nippon Professional Baseball according to Japanese reports on Tuesday.

A Japanese sports daily reported that the 30-year-old veteran slugger was recommended for the lineup by his coach. This is the power hitter’s first season in the Japanese league.

“Big Boy” Lee was voted second by Japanese fans to play first base behind Inaba Atsunori who plays for the Hokkaido Nippon-ham Fighters, but the Buffaloes coach decided to put up Lee for recommendation.

As of Tuesday, Lee has a .297 average, 11 homers and 44 RBIs.

“It is a stage where fans and players can become one,” said Lee after making the All-Star team. “I will try and make it a fun game.”

Lee will be the ninth Korean to join the Japanese All-Stars following Baek In-cheon, Sun Dong-ryul, and more recently Lee Seung-yeop and Kim Tae-kyun.

The three-game All-Star series is slated to start on July 20 at the Kyocera Dome Osaka.
