A patient in England who had been in a coma for eight days asked his family for a KFC chicken burger as soon as he came out of it.

Sam Boughen, 26, a drummer from Glastonbury, asked for a chicken burger by typing on an iPad after eight days in a coma.

“I don’t get many takeaways but chicken must have been on my mind,” said Boughen.

He was diagnosed with liver disease and then went through liver tranplant from his father in January. However, the operation failed and he had to receive another liver transplant in April. After the second transplant, he suffered a lung problem and E.coli infection, which put him into coma.

“We all held our breath the first time he started writing,” said his father. “We thought he would tell us that he loved us, but instead he asked for a KFC.”

Boughen had to use the iPad to communicate because a tracheotomy made him unable to speak.

Now he is at home, spending time with his daughter.

혼수상태에서 깨어나자 나온 첫 마디가…

영국에 사는 한 남성이 혼수상태에서 깨어나자마자 가족에게 치킨버거를 사오라고 해 웃음을 주고 있다.

글라스톤베리에 사는 드러머 샘 보헨은 8일 동안 혼수상태에 빠져있다 깨어난 후 아이패드에 치킨버거를 사오라는 글을 썼다.

샘은 지난 1월 간 질병으로 자신의 아버지에게서 새로운 간을 이식 받았다. 하지만 이 수술은 성공하지 못해 다시 새로운 간을 4월에 이식 받았다. 하지만 수술 후 폐에 문제가 생기고 대장균에 시달리면서 3주 동안 끔찍한 시간을 보냈고 급기야 마지막 8일 동안은 혼수 상태에 빠져 있었다.

혼수 상태에서 깨어난 후 기관절개술로 말을 하지 못해 아이패드로 의사소통을 해야 했던 샘은 첫 마디로 가족들에게 사랑한다고 말하는 대신 치킨버거를 사오라고 말해 걱정하던 가족들에게 웃음을 주었다고 한다.

현재 샘은 자신의 집에서 딸과 함께 시간을 보내며 회복 중이라고 한다.
