A Bangladeshi government vice minister visited Korea to discuss how to improve the welfare and number of Bangladeshi migrant workers here and other migrant issues.

Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Dr. Zafar Ahmed Khan discussed with Korean government and bank officials ways to improve the Employment Permit system and the possibility of a partnership with Probashi Kallyan Bank for easier remittances on a visit here on May 8-9.

During his stay, Khan met with Deputy Minister of Employment and Labor Lee Jae-gab, president of Human Resources Development Service of Korea Song Young-jung and president of Hana Bank Kim Jong-jun, among others.

Lee told Khan that the government would renew the MOU on the EPS that is due to expire in July and establish a technical training center in Chittagong, Bangladesh, for the technical support of potential migrant workers.

Khan also met with Bangladeshi expatriates to hear their views and visited a factory with 14 Bangladeshis to inspect living and working conditions.
