U.S. college dropout has turned a mathematics genius after being brutally attacked by a group of street robbers.

Jason Padgett, 41, was ambushed outside a karaoke club and repeatedly kicked in head, causing brain damage.

But since the attack, Padgett he sees mathematical formulas wherever he looks, turning them into intricate diagrams he can draw by hand.

He is the only person who can visually depict infinite pi, the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter.

Experts say the transformation of the brain system was caused by his head injury and believe the damage to Padgett’s brain has left him with a “remarkable gift” for figures.

Berit Brogaard, a neuroscientist professor at the University of Missouri, conducted a study on Padgett and a brain scan shows damage that forced his brain to overcompensate in certain areas that most people do not have access to.

The professor said the result shows that Padgett is now an acquired savant, meaning brilliant in a specific area.

“Savant syndrome is the development of a particular skill, that can be mathematical, spatial or autistic, that develop to an extreme degree that sort of makes a person superhuman,” the professor added.

Padgett said he was stunned by the “superpower” and wanted to turn back to his old self, but it was impossible.

“I hope to use this unexpected ability for students,” he said.
