Youth ambassadors are being sought to campaign for human rights in the Asia Pacific region. The Asia Pacific Youth Network is seeking people to commit to an 18-month voluntary leadership program.

APYN works to connect young people who want to work together to campaign for human rights. There are currently more than 10,000 people in 29 countries in the network. The APYN Youth Ambassador initiative will help young people in Asia Pacific develop their leadership skills while campaigning for social change.

Applicants must currently be living in the Asia Pacific region with plans to stay there until December 2013. They must be aged 16-30 at the time of application.

Youth ambassadors are also required to have support from a local community organization ― except for those working solely online. Ambassadors should apply stating the organization that will mentor them. They must also be able to commit to at least 3 to 5 hours a week to attend preparation and skills training workshops until around May 2012 and then deliver their action plan to the end of December 2013.

Until then, ambassadors will work with young human rights activists from across the Asia Pacific Region to develop projects under the headings of either local community, regional campaigns, or online facilitation.

Applicants must currently be involved in some form of youth network and be in contact with young people in their own community. They must also be able to communicate in English and have Internet access.

Those who are interested should apply by April 10 at 11:30 p.m. Hong Kong time. Shortlisted candidates will be called for online interviews by April 16, with successful candidates announced by April 27.
