Former president Roh Tae-woo has been admitted to the hospital with a high fever, just days after being discharged, his aides said Friday.

“He was admitted into the Seoul National University Hospital on Thursday after showing signs of a high fever of unknown origin,” said Roh’s secretary Moon Dong-hee.

Tests so far showed no signs of serious illness in the 79-year-old, he added.

Roh is expected to remain hospitalized for the next couple of days before being released, according to a source quoted in news reports.

The ailing ex-leader went home on Feb. 6, four months after being hospitalized with pneumonia and asthma.

Roh served as president from 1988 to 1993. Then an army major general, he supported Korea’s last strongman Chun Doo-hwan during their military coup in 1979, and helped him lead troops that massacred Gwangju citizens who were protesting for democratization in 1980.

In 1996 Roh and Chun were convicted of masterminding the 1979 coup but were pardoned later by former President Kim Dae-jung.
