A vengeful former employee went on a shooting rampage at a factory Wednesday, killing one worker and seriously wounding two others. Police captured the 30-year-old assailant after a gunfight.
The man identified by his surname Sung told police he was seeking revenge against his former colleagues for bullying him when he worked at the company three years ago.
The shooting spree occurred at the parking lot of the car parts maker in Seosan, South Chungcheong Province.
The suspect opened fire with a hunting rifle from his car at 9:40 a.m.
Then the shooter ran away and police chased him on the nearby highway.
He shot the police car and drank pesticide just before being arrested. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

서산서 30대 엽총 난사..1명 사망 2명 중태
충남 서산시의 한 공장 주차장에서 30대 남자가 공장 직원들에게 수렵용 엽총을 난사해 1명이 숨지고 2명이 부상해 병원으로 옮겨져 치료중이나 중태다.
15일 오전 9시40분께 서산시 수석동 농공단지내 자동차 시트 제조공장인 D산업에서 3년전 이 공장에 다녔던 성모(31)씨가 무쏘 승용차에 탄채 엽총을 난사해 공장 직원 최모(38)씨가 숨지고 임모(30)씨와 문모(56)씨 등 2명이 부상했다.
성씨는 범행후 달아나다 신고를 받고 출동한 경찰과 추격전을 벌인 끝에 서해안 고속도로 서해대교 위에서 검거됐으나 붙잡히기 직전 농약으로 추정되는 독극물을 마셔 병원으로 후송됐다.
성씨는 이날 공장 주차장내 자신의 차량에 탄 채 주변에서 담배를 피우고 있던 직원들에게 엽총을 발사한 뒤 서해안고속도로를 타고 달아났다.
과거 이 공장에 다니다 퇴직한 성씨는 범행 동기와 관련, “공장에 다니던 시절 직원들이 나를 괴롭혀서 보복하기 위해 총을 쐈다”고 경찰에 진술했다.
성씨는 차량에 탄 채 도주하면서 추격해온 경찰차에도 엽총을 발사해 경찰차량 유리가 파손됐다. 경찰은 성씨의 차량을 들이받아 멈춰 세운 뒤 전기총(테이저건)을 발사해 검거했다.
경찰은 성씨를 인근 병원으로 후송하는 한편, 정확한 사건경위를 수사중이다. (연합뉴스)
