A former Miss Korea and news anchor has filed a defamation lawsuit against several media outlets asking for more than half a billion won in compensation, said a local court.

“They printed an article that defamed my name and personal life without giving me the right of reply,” said Han Sung-ju as quoted by the Seoul Central District Court on Thursday.

The 37-year-old celebrity filed the suit against a sports news media outlet reporter and an internet news media outlet reporter for 300 million won ($264,000) each.

“I am suffering because of the one-sided articles that were written,” said Han.

In December local media reported that Han’s ex-boyfriend Christopher Hsu, filed a complaint against her for the use of violence and illegal confinement.

The man claimed that he was assaulted by Han, her brother and two other men last March after he threatened to release details about their personal relationship, according to prosecutors.

Hsu also claimed that he was locked up for eight hours by Han’s family in her home, said prosecutors.

Hsu, a Taiwanese-American businessman, filed suit against Han for 500 million won in compensation.

Han’s legal representative denied the claims, saying “most of them are lies” after reportedly finding out about the lawsuit through local media.

According to the Sejong Law Firm, Hsu was the one that broke into her house and damaged her property in March.

“He also threatened Han with scissors, asking her to continue their relationship. But he sent an e-mail later asking for forgiveness,” said the representative.
