The Korean unit of Air France-KLM SA said its airport chief Lee Young-kil recently received an award from the French Embassy in Seoul for his contribution to the two countries’ economic and business ties.
Lee serves the European airline as station and service manager at Incheon International Airport.
The National Order of Merit award was created in 1963 by former French President Charles de Gaulle to honor military forces and civilians for their devotion to the country.
“Lee has always provided a very professional and efficient service. Thanks to his efficiency and his dedication, his team has helped us to pursue the development of the relations and exchanges between France and Korea,” the company said in a statement.
Air France is the first European carrier to enter the Korean market, which dates back to 1983. It merged with Netherlands-based KLM in 2004.
