SK manager Lee Man-soo
Lee Man-soo, the interim manager of the SK Wyverns in the Korea Baseball Organization, was promoted to full-time manager on Tuesday.
The Wyverns announced they have signed Lee to a three-year deal worth 750 million won ($669,045) with another 250 million won as a signing bonus. Lee, a former bench coach and the team’s minor league manager, became interim manager in August after Kim Sung-keun was abruptly fired following contractual disputes with the front office.
“I am grateful that I will get to manage this great franchise,” Lee said. “I will make sure our players enjoy playing the game and never give up until the final out.”
The signing comes a day after the Wyverns lost to the Samsung Lions in the Korean Series. This was the Wyverns’ fifth straight appearance in the Korean Series and they previously won titles in 2007, 2008 and 2010.
