Apple sends out invite for iPhone event

NEW YORK (AP) -- Apple is inviting journalists to its Cupertino, California, headquarters next week for an iPhone-related event on Oct. 4.

The invitation Apple Inc. sent on Tuesday does not go into details. It says ``let's talk iPhone,'' suggesting that the usually secretive company is likely to unveil the next iteration of its popular smartphones.

Former Vice President Al Gore, who sits on Apple's board, has said recently that he believes Apple's new iPhones will be here in October.

Next weeks' event will be the first product unveiling for Apple since Steve Jobs resigned as CEO in August. The company's shares have since hit their highest level ever.

애플 다음주 아이폰 5 공개

애플이 오는 10월4일 미국 캘리포니아주 쿠퍼티노에 위치한 본사에서 아이폰 관련 행사를 할 예정이라면서 언론에 초대장을 보냈다고 미국 언론들이 27일(현지시간) 보도했다.

애플은 이날 초대장에 행사와 관련된 구체적인 내용을 담지 않고 단순히  "아이폰에 대해 얘기해보자"라고만 기재했다.

그러나 지금까지 애플은 차세대 아이폰 공개행사 때마다 이와 유사한 형태의 초 대장을 보낸 만큼 이번 행사가 차세대 아이폰을 발표하는 행사일 것이라고 현지 언론들은 전했다.

이와 관련해 현재 애플의 이사회 이사로 있는 앨 고어 전 미국 부통령은 최근 애플이 10월 중에 새 아이폰을 내놓을 것이라고 말한 바 있다.

이번 행사는 스티브 잡스가 지난 8월 최고경영자(CEO) 자리에서 물러난 이후 첫 번째 제품 발표회여서 시장의 관심을 끌고 있다. (연합뉴스)
