The French inter-ministerial committee on food aid is offering support to North Korea through non-governmental agencies.

The 200,000-euro assistance has been divided equally between two aid agencies, Premiere Urgence-Aide Medicale Internationale and Triangle Generation Humanitaire, to implement food assistance to those who are particularly vulnerable.

Announced by the French Embassy, the program implemented by Triangle Generation Humanitaire is designed to strengthen the food security of children’s institutions in the region of Sariwon, North Hwanghae Province and should directly benefit about 18,200 people.

The program implemented by Premiere Urgence ― Aide Medicale Internationale is to improve the food situation of people with disabilities in North Korea. This operation aims to support directly about 3,500-4,000 people.

The 200,000-euro ($270,119) assistance is on top of the original 300,000 euros given in April to these two non-governmental agencies.
