Finding solutions to climate change is one of the most pressing challenges facing the diplomatic world today.

To examine opportunities brought on by the possible negative affects of climate change, the German and British Embassies, the European Union delegation together with the German Korean Alumni Network are organizing a joint conference titled “Climate Change and Green Growth: Understanding Threats and Seizing Opportunities.”

The one-day conference will be held on Oct. 5 at the Millennium Seoul Hilton Hotel.

Participating at the conference will be internationally renowned scientists, climate experts, government representatives and entrepreneurs.

The Joint Conference on Climate Change and Green Growth will address policies and tools to achieve such a paradigm shift including the European Union’s experience with an emissions trading scheme.

This joint conference offers participants the chance to discuss all of these issues with international experts, to explore and understand the risks and opportunities that the climate challenge brings, and ways to move toward green growth.

The aims of the conference are to better understand the threat of climate change to Korea and the region; debate possible solutions, potential policy options and political action required to tackle the threat; identify and seize new opportunities that support a common green growth strategy; and explore new partnerships with the experts, policy makers, researchers, civil society, and the private sector.
