Ewha Womans University Medical Center has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Mongolian National Cancer Center for research and treatment, the hospital said Thursday.

Under the agreement, the Seoul hospital will diagnose and treat transferred Mongolian patients, refer the process to the Mongolian cancer center and share knowledge and other information about the healing process.

The two sides will also collaborate on establishing an educational program for the medical staff.

The hospital said the MOU signed in July will encourage more Mongolian patients to choose Korea and Ewha hospital for treatment.

“Cancer prevalence rate in Mongolia is quite high, possibly due to the fatty diet and tough climate. But their medical techniques are not yet sophisticated enough to care for cancer patients. We will focus not only on the treatment but also on prevention of cancer,” Paik Nam-sun, head of the hospital, said.
