83-year-old woman gets breast implants
An 83-year-old American woman had a breast implant surgery last month to improve her appearance, the New York Times reported.
Marie Kolstad, from California, has four children, 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
“Physically, I’m in a good health, and I just feel like, why not take advantage of it?” Kolstad was quoted as saying.
“My mother lived a long time, and I’m just taking it for granted that that will happen to me, and I want my children to be proud of what I look like,” she added.
Despite her age she still works as a full time property manager, and enjoys dancing, spending vacation at Hawaii or even making boyfriends.
American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery said that in 2010 alone, there were some 84,685 surgeries for 65 and older. Of them, about 2,414 cases were breast augmentations, and there were even 5,874 breast reductions, too.
The New York Times also reported how some are being skeptic about seniors being obsessed with looks, while others say that even the aged have right to pursue beauty.
