A 39-year-old man was arrested for sexual violence in a series of daybreak attacks on women over the past six months, police said Monday.
The offender, only known by his surname Kim, had allegedly attempted to rape a 27 year-old woman near an apartment in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, on July 26, leaving the victim with injuries that would take three weeks to heal completely.
An investigation revealed that he had committed seven similar crimes since last February.
All of Kim’s alleged victims were wearing short skirts at the time of the attacks.
Police detectives who have been investigating a series of daybreak sexual assaults in the city identified Kim from CCTV records.
“I could not help myself whenever I saw women with short skirts,” Kim reportedly told the police.
Kim had told his family that he left home early in the morning because of work.

경찰 조사결과 김씨는 부인이 잠든 새벽 3-4시께 출근을 핑계로 일찍 집을 나선 뒤, 청주시내 골목길 등을 돌아다니며 이 같은 짓을 저질러왔던 것으로 드러났다.
이 때문에 가족은 김씨의 범행사실을 전혀 눈치채지 못했고, 김씨는 수개월 간 낮에는 평범한 가장으로, 밤에는 ‘발바리’로서의 이중생활을 이어올 수 있었다.
경찰은 새벽시간 성폭행 피해 신고가 잇따른다는 신고를 받고 방범용 CCTV 등을 분석한 끝에 김씨를 검거했다.
