Samsung Electronics on Thursday will unveil the results of a reexamination conducted by a U.S.-based consultancy on a recent court ruling that regarded leukemia as an industrial accident that occurred at a Samsung factory.

Environ, a consultancy specializing in environmental and health issues, will be introducing the results of the review at Samsung’s Giheung semiconductor plant and respond to questions from the press on the matter, Samsung said on Tuesday.

Kwon Oh-hyun, head of Samsung Electronics’ Digital Solutions in charge of the semiconductor and liquid crystal display division, also will be holding a press conference to talk about Samsung’s position on the controversy over its link to leukemia and the court ruling.

Kwon also is expected to unveil plans for improving the health conditions of the assembly line workers.

In June, a Seoul court had ruled in favor of the bereaved family of two deceased Samsung Electronics employees that leukemia, which was the cause of their death, was an industrial accident.

With almost a dozen employees dead or suffering from leukemia, there have been persistent reports that the workers at Samsung’s chip lines are exposed to certain chemicals or substances that are causing the disease.
