The Korea International Trade Association said Sunday the number of people who found jobs through its online recruitment services has topped 10,000 in less than two years.

The website, named JobTogether (http://jobtogether.net/), was opened in September 2009 as part of KITA’s campaigns to tackle labor shortages in the local trade industry and rising unemployment in Korea.

As of May, 10,838 job seekers have secured a position, about 57 percent of which did so last year. The trade agency said more than 2,800 found their career between January and May and it wants to lift the number to 8,000 by the end of the year.

“JobTogether coincides with Chairman SaKong Il’s policy to step up cyber services for the trade industry,” KITA said in a statement. “The site is striving to boost employment effects by matchmaking companies to prepared talent.

Industry officials have seen about 50 websites launched this year, where both job finders and headhunters upload or look into each other’s profiles.

KITA also began one-on-one consulting services for jobseekers in their 40s and 50s in April last year, which have matched people with 382 jobs so far.
