Minority kids learn Korea’s Olympic spirit

About 100 members of multicultural families in Korea participated in an event to learn about Korea’s Olympic history and sent well wishes for the PyeongChang 2018 bid at Seoul Olympic Parktel in Seoul, on Saturday and Sunday.

Organized by Herald Media and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation, the event kicked off just 10 days ahead of the announcement for the host city of 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

Kang Yun-mi and Jeon Da-hye, the 2006 Olympic Gold Medalists for women’s short track speed skating in the 3000 meter relay, met the children and taught them how to skate. The kids also visited Seoul Olympic Museum, sang a song called “The Dream of PyeongChang,” and wrote letters to IOC members.

The well-wishes of the children would help the PyeongChang 2018 bid, said Kim Hye-Seong, a lawmaker of the Future Hope Alliance, who gave a congratulatory speech for the event.
